Dr. Art
received his Ph.D. from Temple University in Philadelphia
Pennsylvania. He soon traveled to San Diego where
he has been in practice since 1982. Along with
his practice he worked at Solar Turbines, Inc.
as the Director of Employee Assistance until 1984.
He has continued to provide EAP, clinical and
consulting services ever since.
In the early '90s he trained with the John Bradshaw
Center in Inner Child work. He and his two colleagues
formed the nucleus of the San Diego Chapter of
the John Bradshaw Center where many hundreds of
clients received counseling in the Bradshaw method.
Art continues providing inner child counseling
to clients utilizing this unique and impactful
approach.
The true test of an individual is when they form
a meaningful relationship. All the old family
issues, sensitivities, and insecurities immediately
come out. To improve the resolution of these issues
Art has received training from John Grey (Men
Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus) in relationship
counseling. He has studied at The Center For Cognitive
Therapy in Long Beach, learning to teach clients
how their self talk affects their moods. And,
as mentioned elsewhere, he has studied with the
Hardiness Institute learning and teaching Hardiness
principles.
For ten years Art was a stress management consultant
at Scripps Hospital's Center For Executive Health.
There he learned the Mind-Body relationship is
critical to managing health and happiness. The
role that stress plays in Wellness was clear,
those that managed their stress lived longer,
happier and more fulfilling lives.
In addition to private practice Art serves as
a consultant to a number of organizations. He
provides psychological feedback to clients in
the outplacement program at Drake Beam Morin,
and delivers critical incident stress de-briefings
to Value/Options and other employee assistance
programs. He was the Clinical Director at Geriatric
Counseling, Inc. for five years.
